On December 3, 2021, I was honored to receive two prestigious awards at the SWITS ALAB Awards: the Outstanding BSIT Student Award and the Leadership Award. These recognitions from the Society for the Welfare of Information Technology Students (SWITS) symbolize resilience, academic excellence, and leadership amidst unprecedented challenges. Achieving these milestones during the pandemic taught me the importance of perseverance, anchored by my mantra: “Kinaya, Kinakaya, at Kakayanin.” These words remind me to face every obstacle with determination and unwavering faith in myself and those who support me.
A Journey of Growth and Gratitude
The pandemic posed immense challenges, from adjusting to online learning to navigating the responsibilities of being a class leader. Yet, these struggles became opportunities for growth. Leadership taught me to blend courage with compassion, bridge communication gaps, and advocate for others. I owe my success to my supportive classmates from BSIT2A, my dear friends Clyde, Kenneth, Steven, Socorro, and Ben, and the unwavering encouragement of my past and current professors and advisers, including Ma’am Raquel, Ma’am Lyka, and Ma’am Janice. Most importantly, I am deeply grateful to my parents, Dheng Almario Tayao and Rommel A. Tayao, whose sacrifices and love inspire me daily.
Inspiration and Faith
This recognition is not solely mine—it is a tribute to everyone who believed in me and a testament to the power of community. It also serves as a reminder to remain patient and humble and to see every challenge as a chance to grow and lead. As I look ahead, I dedicate these awards to the greater glory of God Almighty, whose guidance strengthens me every step of the way.
These accolades are more than just awards—they represent the triumph of resilience, the value of teamwork, and the power of faith. May this story inspire others to embrace challenges, serve with purpose, and transform adversities into legacies of greatness.
